May 2 (Thurs) Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course Bike Ride Class A/B
We will ride through Dawson Creek Park, then over to the Rock Creek area.
From there we will go through North Plains to the Golf Course where we can
eat our lunch or snack. This is a mostly level ride of about 20 miles.

May 3-5 (Fri-Sun) Nesika Weekend for Food Dehydrating
Cancelled - Generator down at lodge
Bring your food dehydrator and your favorite dehydrated meal to prepare
and share with others. We will have a trading party of favorite dehydrated
meals. This can help bring variety to our diet on the trail. Glen can bring
in the food dehydrators and packs for those wanting to hike in on Friday
PM.
Class B hike or drive in (road is open!).
We will meet people at the gate on Friday PM at 6:00 PM and Saturday AM at
9:00. We will also lead a hike up to the lodge starting at Multnomah Falls
at 5:00 PM on Friday. You will probably be on your own hiking out.

May 7 (Tues) Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge Hike - Class A
Bring your binoculars to enjoy wildlife at this uniquely urban refuge. After
the approximately 4 mile walk you will have an opportunity to stop at the
visitor's center to see a display of the history of the refuge and to visit
the store which is a project of Friends of the Refuge.

May 11 (Sat) Mosier Tunnel Bike ride class B and C
We will pedal on historic Highway 30 thru the Mosier tunnels. It is a dedicated
paved bike and pedestrian path. After the town of Mosier we share the road
of this scenic byway and road less traveled, there are a couple of good hills
to test your skills. There is always an option to make this an "A" ride by
turning around in the Tunnel which will make a 5 or 6 mile ride. I will lead
the 26 mile "B" ride to the Rowena Crest and Tom McCall Overlook with good
undulating hills. Allen Burrell will continue on through The Dalles and up
and over Sevenmile Hill, its classified as "C" has wonderful vistas and is
a strenuous bike ride. Bring lunch, water, helmet, and 10 essentials.

May 11 (Sat) Memaloose Hills Hike – Class A/B
This open country east of Hood River is a place of low hills and valleys
that are a haven for wildflowers in the Spring. Hike 6 to 7 miles. There
are few trails and the route is open for wandering. Views of the Gorge and
the Cascades are vast. Moderate pace. Drive 110 miles round trip.
Depart: 8:30 AM from Gateway Park and Ride.

May 13 (Mon) North Portland Bike Ride - Class A
Explore a little bit of N. Portland on this easy paced evening ride of 15-20 miles
( 2-2 1/2 hours) on streets and bike paths.
Depart: 6:00 PM departure from Columbia park on N. Winchell St. at the corner of N. Chautauqua,
just a few blocks north of Lombard St.

May 18 (Sat) Salmon River Hike - Class A
This is a 7.2 mile round trip hike along the central part of the Salmon
River. Elevation gain is 900 feet. Half of the hike is in lovely old growth
forest with views of the river and little elevation gain. We then weave in
and out of the drainages through younger forest to a bluff high over the
river for lunch. Pace will be moderate. Driving distance is 82 miles round
trip. Trailhead pass required.

May 18 (Sat) Dog Mtn. Hike - Class B
It's May and that means it's time to go see the Balsam root flowers of Dog
Mountain. We'll climb the easier route up and come down the longer Augspurger
route. Lunch at the top with hopefully good views and sun. Hike 6.9 miles
round trip with 2820 feet elevation gain. Drive 98 miles round trip. Drivers
need Northwest Forest Pass for parking.

May 18 (Sat) Nesika Lodge Membership Hike - Class B
Ever wonder what’s up past Multnomah Falls? Join us on this hike and find
out! We’ll hike up Multnomah Creek and to Nesika Lodge for lunch, and then
come back the way we came. On the way up, we’ll pass through dense forest,
and see several waterfalls and views. This is a work weekend at Nesika, so
club members will be working on the lodge, road, and trails nearby while
we visit. This hike will contain all membership requirements, and participants
will qualify for Trails Club membership if they wish to apply. The hike is
about 8 miles round trip, with about 1800 ft. of elevation gain. Please bring
the 10 Essentials, including lunch, snacks, water, and rain gear. Round trip
driving distance is 49 miles. Please be prepared to pay trip and carpool
fees with small cash.

May 18-19(Sat-Sun) Eagle Creek Backpack - Class A
We’ll take the Eagle Creek Trail in the Columbia Gorge past scenic Punchbowl
Falls and Tunnel Falls, hiking high above the creek in some sections. Trail
has many scenic sections blasted directly out of rock with cables strung
for handholds. Camping will be at campsites along the creek after hiking
about 7 miles total and an elevation of 1200 to 1300 feet. We’ll return back
to trailhead on Sunday.

by leader before Thursday May 16th. These forms are available On the

May 23 (Thu) Adventures & Travels: Arizona
Audrey Perino and Ken Kane recently visited Phoenix, Tucson, and points
in between. Highlights they'll share include a 15-year-old cave, a 600-year-old
building, and a basebrawl. An added bonus: you'll finally learn how to pronounce
the name of that cactus with the arms!

May 27 (Mon) Clackamas River Rd Bike Ride - Class B Rescheduled!
We will ride out Clackamas River Dr and Springwater Rd toward Estacada,
stopping at Milo McIver State Park for lunch. We then ride back via Redland
Rd to Oregon City. Rolling hills through beautiful countryside, 35 miles,
1400 ft elevation gain.

May 28 (Tue) Last Tuesday bike ride - Class A
This is a level ride of about 12.6 miles. Most of the ride is on the beautiful
Fanno Creek Trail multi-use path. We return from the end of the Fanno Creek
Trail via city streets. We should be back at the start at about 8pm. It should
still be light but bike lights would be a good thing.

Trails Ahead
Natchez Trace Bicycle Trip - Oct 8 to Oct 23, 2013
This 444 mile Parkway was established as a unit of the National Park System
in 1938 and officially completed in 2005. We will fly to Nashville, stay in
B&B's and Hotels, bicycle between 40 and 60 miles a day. We will tour the Antebellum
homes in Natchez, MS visit the birthplace of Elvis Presley in Tupelo MS and
the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. We will pedal in three States with an abundance
of history, the leaves will be turning and the temperature are still warm in
the South.
This trip is being Set up as a possible TCO outing, so watch for details to appear.
