Friday afternoon there will be a slide show the of Montana section from Lima To Lemhi Pass. Pictures provided by Tom Ward. The GPS class will be repeated on Saturday morning from 10:00 to noon. The classes should take around 30 to 60 minutes of indoor mapping and 30-60 minutes of practical outdoor work. Bring a compass and navigation using a compass bearing will also be covered. A Mapping class will include how to read a map, how to read UTMs, and use of GPS. We will practice finding different coordinates relevant to our location. We will also be instructed on use of the GPS Sunday on our membership hike. Speakers for this year's seminar on Saturday include:
Lisa Holmes author of "I Heart Oregon's Seven Wonders", and "I heart Oregon and Washington". She will have a new book coming out in the spring on nutrition and backpack gourmet food. Lisa will also do a pack breakdown.
Whitney LaRuffa has just finished the Oregon Natural Desert Trail. He will do a presentation with great pictures from his trip. He will also do a pack breakdown and teach how to pack a backpack for comfort.
Sylvia Ashley will be presenting a slide show on the John Muir Trail which her and a group of Trails Club members just completed including a climb of MT. Whitney.
Six Moon Designs will again do a presentation on light weight packs, tents and accessories. We will not be doing too much on nutrition as we will have a food drying class in the spring at Tyee and hopefully invite Lisa Holmes to present her new book
