Gentle Reminders provides explanation of hike difficulty and hike guideline. Detail description of common meeting is available at Meeting Places.

Week-1

Nov 3 (Sat) Central Salmon River Hike – Class B

A fun hike to canyon viewpoint for snack. Please call or email leader if weather looks iffy. Hike 7.2 miles with 900 feet elevation gain. Drive 82 miles round trip. Trailhead parking pass needed by drivers. Limited to 12 people due to wilderness restrictions.

Nov 2-4 (Fri-Sun) Annual Backpack Seminar

We have two speakers this year who are both long distant hikers and will show picture shows. We will have light weight gear to look at. Ron Moak has agreed to again display his wares. We will day hike the basin and Franklin Ridge Trails on Sunday AM. We have a generous donation from Nike of clothing as door prizes. Any other door prize donations would be welcome. Come learn how to lighten your pack and enjoy the company of those who love the out-of-doors. Register early. Limit is 45-50 people. Roger and Karen Anderson have agreed to cook this year. We will have a hike led up from Multnomah Falls Lodge on Saturday AM.
We will have doggy camp open. No dogs in lodge. Clean up after dog. No dogs on porch of main lodge. Bring chain and shelter for your animals. Do not bring out of control animals.
Meet: We will have gate at Larch Mountain open Friday at 5:00 PM and Saturday at 9:00 AM. Register with: Linda Conrad at lcgrconrad@aol.com or 360-837-3875.

Nov 7 (Wed) Morning hike - Class A/B

We hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, usually in Forest Park, then lunch at a nearby cafe. If you would like to know the distance or difficulty of the hike, call the leader.

Nov 10 (Sat) Eagle Creek Hike – Class A

Walk to High Bridge and enjoy the forest and waterfalls along the way. Hike 6.6 miles round trip with 700 feet of elevation gain. Bring lunch and dress for a winter walk. Drivers need a trailhead pass or pay a $5 fee. Drive 75 miles round trip.

Nov 15 (Thu) Adventures & Travels: Mongolia

Steve Levy and Sue Van Loon will present a slide program on their trip to the distant land of Mongolia. Traveling by horseback in the grasslands of the north and by suspension-less Russian vans in the Gobi desert of the south, they sampled an exotic culture still largely dependent on the horse, joined in their celebrations, explored their capital city of Ulan Bataar and visited their unique landscapes. They wrapped up their trip with a brief visit to Beijing. Come join us for the adventure!

Nov 22-24 (Thur-Sat) Nesika Lodge Thanksgiving Backpack

Celebrate Thanksgiving at Nesika! The lodge will be open from 1 pm Thursday until Saturday afternoon. This will be backpack in only from Multnomah Falls or from the green gate - bring your own food. We will try to organize a pot luck meal among all who RSVP yes so that we have the right amounts of everything. We'll feast on Thursday, then hike it off on Friday.
Depart: I plan to begin the hike up at 10:30 am - meet at Multnomah Falls rain or shine.

Nov 22-25 (Thur-Sun) Thanksgiving at Tyee Cancelled

Tyee will be open for the long weekend, but plans are still in the works.
